Guess What!!! There was no baseball or softball yesterday or today!!! WOOHOO!!! I really really really love the kids' sports!!! I just get worn out running constantly. Anyhow, today I took a break. Now don't get me wrong...I still cooked dinner because on game days or when they both have practice on the same day, I don't cook. In fact, on most days I really try to find an excuse not to cook. I can't stand cooking. AND I'm really not that good at it. I TRY to be good at cooking, I'm just not. You know those people that just throw stuff together and make it delicious??? I'm not one of those. I have to have a recipe to follow or it won't happen. In fact, most of my better dinners have come from Shelly (smothered round steak), Aunt Donna (chicken quesdillas), Mark (chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes), Tracy (more than one), etc. Once when I was about 19 and Floyd (Ashton's dad) and I were still together, I tried to make meat loaf. Now folks, when I pulled it out of the oven, it looked like a cake. IT WAS HORRIBLE!!! And its still one of Floyd's fondest memories of our time together....11 years later. Another time when I was about 21, I decided I was going to make chicken spaghetti. Thing is I didn't have a recipe so I just put cheese, noodles and chicken in it. No cream of chicken or anything like that....it was HORRIBLE too!!! Around the same time, Kenny came to town and I had the honor of cooking for him, my boyfriend of the day, and Ronald. So I made meatballs. Well, I didn't realize that you could put seasoning in them or eggs or that you don't fluor them first. Needless to say, I was told that I cook just like my mother. According to some, my mother doesn't cook so well either, but Kenny supposedly did. I wouldn't know because I don't remember his cooking (maybe someone could confirm that for me). So my point is (or as Ellen Degeneres would say "Do I have one"), I would really love to hear about your horrific times in the kitchen or get a new great recipe!!! So post a comment and share!!!
And check out Paula Dean's website. I would never attempt any of these, but you might. :)
